Here is your opportunity to have your say on the issue of addressing plastic and waste in Leicester's watercourses as part of our Local Flood Risk Management Strategy action plan for the next 5 years and beyond.
As a direct result of ConCensus, the issue of plastic and waste in Leicester’s watercourses will be integrated in the latest update of the Leicester Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (LFRMS). Addressing the issue of plastic and waste in Leicester’s watercourses will form a part of the LFRMS action plan for the next 5 years and potentially beyond.
It is suggested that the following paragraph is integrated into the LFRMS:
“Leicester City Council will implement a strategy to reduce plastic and waste in Leicester’s watercourses, working with partners such as the Environment Agency, Canal and River Trust and Severn Trent Water and engaging local communities. This will be achieved by examining hotspots of litter and waste accumulations and implementing solutions to reduce the litter both entering and already contained within the watercourses. By addressing this issue, the water environment will be returned to a condition that can be better accessed and enjoyed by all groups within the city.”
